General Overview		Ben is an even tempered man. An easy going man, not one to get angry very quickly or at all. A reserve man but a people person when needed. He has a quick wit and even quicker with a joke, when the situation is prudent.
Hobbies & Interests		He hobbies and interest include reading, playing chess, running the halls of his starship, cooking, and playing various forms of guitars.

Personal History		Ben was born to Linus and May O’Brien an the outskirts of Chicago on Earth. Ben is the youngest of three children. Linus and May were both teachers. Linus a college professor and May a science teacher for the local high school. Ben was the quiet rebellious type. While his older brother Colin went to be a teacher as well Ben was expected to go down that path too. But he wanted something different. He excelled in school, something expected from the son of two teachers. Science and math being his best subjects. Those came easier to him then other subjects. When he wasn’t study and getting good grades he was cracking jokes and playing sports. Being the tallest in his family he was a tall lanky young adult. So this made him a faster runner then most. He was a natural at football and rugby. Entering the academy at 18 he excelled at his studies. Taking up engineering subjects and minored in science. His wise cracks and joking made him a popular fellow with his classmates. He dated one woman the entire time he was at the academy. Gail meant a great deal to him and they hearts broke when they were assigned to different ships going different directions. After the academy Ben was assigned as an Engineering Officer onboard the Lexington. The Lex was charged with exploration and boarder patrols. He made a quick impression on his Chief that in less then three years on board Ben made Assistant to the Chief. The Arizona was a brand new ship just off of shakedown when to Ben’s surprise he was offered the position of Chief Engineer with a very high recommendation from his Chief on the Lexington. For the next three years Ben preformed his duties to the highest standards he could achieve. The Arizona was severely damaged after an engagement with three B’rel class Klingon ships. With the odds stacked against them they were able to defeat the three ships while keeping the ship together. Ben lost half of his staff that day. As a whole the ship lost half the crew and two senior officers. Ben get many commendations for his actions that day as well did the rest of the surviving crew. With the Arizona a complete lost the crew was split up. After reading the reports of the Arizona last battle the Captain of the Icarus had to have Ben on his staff. Ben was appointed to Chief Engineering and eventually took on the role of XO of the Icarus. When the Icarus returned to port after it’s four year mission in deep space Ben was offered command of his own starship. He accepted the post of command of the starship Jefferson. Ben and his ship has returned from a two year mission and needs a crew as the ship is under repair.
